In this section we will take a look at how we start moving in the direction of the things that we want more of and the steps that we can follow.
Firstly, we need to give ourselves a break and relax into the knowing that we are starting a journey to direct our lives, and that we are not in a race – remember that fulfilment work is all about the joy in the journey itself. We are often too critical of ourselves and demand things from ourselves that do not agree with an approach of seeking the joy in the journey.
When we have an idea of where we would like to go (as we have discovered in the section on “Finding True North”), we sometimes think that the way to go there is directly, as the crow flies, but one simply cannot see down the road that far and also don’t see the whole picture at once. So you don’t necessarily know the details of exactly how, when and where something will flow into your experience, but you can know the essence of it. And that is what we wanted to get from lesson one – for you to get to know and acknowledge the scent of what your heart wants.
We all have some level of limiting beliefs which we willingly and more often unwillingly adopted from society, our parents, religious dogma, our educational system etc. which influence the way we see the world, including the items we talk about in this course – such as how society defines success. These cannot typically be undone in an instant, and we also do not want to put our fulfilled life on pause to unravel each limiting belief before starting our purposeful journey. So we can think of the next stop in the journey based on who we are right now. We do not have to have it all figured out right now in order to start our journey. As even the journey and its destinations are dynamic, we will never have it all fully plotted out, but don’t let it keep you from starting the journey right now, as there will never be a ceremonious send-off to starting to follow your bliss, it is all about the ‘now’ moments in life that you add up that become the journey over time.
Heart-fillers are key in directing and enjoying the journey, because it opens you up to the Creative Source (or “puts you in the flow”) and is truly at the heart of living a directed life, as it allows you to have clearer thoughts and inspiration to take you further down the path of fulfilling experiences. That’s why people sometimes have inspired ideas or thoughts while taking a walk, or in the shower, or even doing the dishes, because they let thought go which sweeps them into the flow. Only, now you are purposefully putting yourself into the flow regularly.
