An important concept here that is worth highlighting, and which ties in with the concepts discussed elsewhere, is that in every moment we either flow energy to the things that we want, or to the things that we do not want. It is in this concept that we can understand how a limiting belief hinders moving in the direction of the thing that you want, as it is flowing energy in opposition to what you want. If the desire and the resistance are about equally matched, your situation shouldn’t change much, as there is little momentum being built in either direction. If this is the case, then you will feel something along the lines of frustration, annoyance etc. as opposed to a serenity / calmness / ease when you think about the subject. It is worth noting here that a limiting belief can certainly add momentum in an unwanted direction, as it may activate thoughts which bring about fear, worry, doubt or even vulnerability. However, it is important to remember that all of us have the potential and the ability to activate and focus on things which disempower us in the moment and build momentum in an unwanted direction. We also have the ability, which improves with practise, to focus with intent in a manner which leaves us empowered. So how do you know if you are applying sufficient energy in the direction of the things that you want in order to have movement in that direction?

On a practical level you can tell if you are moving in the direction of what you want over time by seeing, by what you have created, how you’ve been tracking along. The issue with that approach, as you can imagine, is that if you don’t know in which direction you are driving, and you wait to see where you end up, then you can spend a lot of time driving around, and you may accidentally end up in the place you intended, or more likely in some other place. When directing your life, you will find quicker feedback very useful, as you would want to know whether you are heading in the right direction, generally, at least.

So how can you have an awareness of which direction you’re heading in before you arrive somewhere to realise where you are? Well, it really goes hand-in-hand with our work around being empowered. Because you can only direct the direction that you are heading in if you are sufficiently empowered in the moment to direct your thoughts. And you can tell in each moment whether you feel empowered or not. And by knowing whether you feel empowered or not on average, you can get a fairly good idea of whether you are moving in the direction of the things that you want or not.

So you may wonder then what being empowered in the moment feels like. Also, what you may think of as being aligned to Self. And what does it feel like to be aligned to Self? Well, you feel like you are in control of your experience, and you are in a place of clarity, a place of knowing who you are. And in this state it can be described as a sense of ease, deeper knowing or serenity that underlies your experience when you are in that aligned state. It’s an interesting paradox of sorts, because you don’t know to look for it until you have knowledge about it, and you cannot really know it until you’ve experienced it. But it comes down to a longing for that blissful state and by searching for it, you can find it and then come to know it. And once you’ve tasted its sweetness, you keep coming back for more and more of it; and you can tell when you are in resonance with that, and when you are not.
